Today we will be reviewing the Tigers first half of the season and what they need to do to get better. The Tigers started well early in the season, but they have gotten worse every month. Here’s what the Tigers need to change to make themselves competitive in the second half.
The Tigers need to acquire a starting pitcher. The Tigers have had a 4.87 ERA combined from all pitchers this year, which is 26th in the MLB. And opponents are batting .269 against them, also 26th. If the Tigers bring in a pitcher that is in his prime, they could trade away Justin Verlander and get some prospects, because the Tigers are a team that is going to need younger players with 4 out of 9 players in the lineup over 30 years old.
The Tigers should also sign a veteran center fielder. An older player who has experience in the Majors could help out Mikie Mahtook and Alex Presley. Someone over 25 years old with at least 3 years of MLB experience should help develop these youngsters.
